2015 'Sweet Agnes' Riesling wins Champion Sweet Wine at the prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards

The Seifried Winemakers Collection Sweet Agnes Riesling 2015 has taken out the title of Champion Sweet Wine at this year’s prestigious Air New Zealand Wine Awards held in Nelson.

Named in honour of Agnes Seifried, 'Sweet Agnes’ has been awarded a staggering 14 trophies and 36 gold medals since its first vintage release in 2006.

Winemaker Heidi Seifried-Houghton who has been lead winemaker of this wine for the past nine years says, “The 2015 Sweet Agnes celebrates the last fruit of the season coming in off the vine. Every phase of this wines life involved a team of people ensuring the very best fruit arrived at the winery ready for the final stage of its transition from juice into wine. This acknowledgement is a testament to the entire Seifried team, from vineyard to winery”.

The Air New Zealand Wine Awards is the premier wine competition recognising excellence in New Zealand winemaking. This year over 1,400 wines were judged by a panel of local and international judges.
