Jancis Robinson - NZ beyond Sauvignon and Pinot

We were proud as punch to receive such high acclaim from the lovely Jancis Robinson in her July article ‘NZ beyond Sauvignon and Pinot’

Jancis recently had a tasting at The New Zealand Cellar, a specialist wine shop in Brixton, South London where we were lucky enough to have our 2014 Seifried Nelson Zweigelt selected for the line-up of wines “Beyond Sauvignon and Pinot” presented for Jancis to taste. She commented “…I certainly hadn't tasted a Kiwi Zweigelt before (which turned out to be one of the best-value wines of the tasting) although Richard had enjoyed the previous vintage greatly.”

It is no secret NZ “Sauvignon Blanc is arguably the single most successful combination of grape and country in the modern world”. And with Pinot Noir now our country’s second most planted variety, to see New Zealand winemakers successfully exploring an array of different varietal just goes to show our small corner of the globe has so much to offer beyond Sauvignon and Pinot.

Seifried Nelson 2014 Zweigelt

“Mid cherry red. A light dustiness on top of almost flagrant fruitiness. Not dense but hugely fun and easy to drink. Great stuff for someone looking for something different. Real presence and grip. Watch out, Austria! GV14% Drink 2017-202”
