The unirrigated Redwood Valley Vineyard is situated on a gently sloping, north facing clay site; the vines range in age from 15 to 30 years. Vertical shoot positioning helps to expose the berries to sunlight, thus getting maximum intensity and optimal ripeness. To further enhance the aromatics, leaves were removed to allow light penetration and air movement around the fruiting core.
The 2017 Old Coach Road Nelson Riesling is from our older Redwood Valley Vineyard. The fruit was harvested, pressed and cool fermented. The Riesling had its ferment stopped just before dryness to bring a slight natural residual sweetness to the wine.
The 2017 Old Coach Road Nelson Riesling is flavoursome with layers of honeysuckle, melon and a hint of lime. Natural residual sweetness on the palate works harmoniously with clean acidity leaving a long, lasting finish on the wine.
"Quite fragrant and very floral with aromas of white rose, sweet lemon and green apple. On the palate – off dry, high acidity, light, crisp, refreshing and just dry on the finish. Loads of citrus and apple flavours, a gentle spice and floral lift. A love example, balanced and well-made. Drink now and through 2024."
