Our Rabbit Island Vineyard is situated on a wide river flat. The soil is gravelly sandy loam, which is very sandy and free draining. These vineyards are about 1.5 kilometres from the sea, which helps moderate temperatures.
Our Queen Victoria Vineyard is located in the Motueka area in the heart of a region
known for its apple orchards, kiwifruit and hops. Our grapes are grown on very stoney
free draining soils giving lovely fruit clarity and varietal intensity.
Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean aromatic fruit characters.
The 2020 Seifried Nelson Sauvignon Blanc comes from another cracker Nelson vintage. There are layers of tropical fruit on the nose with passionfruit, melon and fresh basil notes. The palate is well balanced showing generous fruit weight and lingering flavours, supported by clean acidity leaving a long finish.
“Restrained, ripe and delicately succulent wine with passionfruit, melon and blackcurrant bud flavours. A gentle, mouth-watering wine with appealing purity.”
